Small-Signal Stability and Resonance Perspectives in Microgrid: A Review

The microgrid (MG) system is a controlled and supervised power consisting of renewable energy (RE)-based distributed generation (DG) units, loads, storage. MG can be operated autonomously or while connected to the grid. Higher intermittencies uncertainties observed in MGs compared conventional system, which possible source small-signal stability systems. It seen as disturbances around stable operating point, potentially lead instability problem within MGs. Small-signal issues also emerge due lack damping torque MG. integration electronic devices complex control algorithms introduces novel challenges terms resonances. occurrence interaction low- no-inertia might worsen margin, leading undamped oscillatory instability. characterized by various frequency ranges, from low-frequency subsynchronous oscillation high-frequency ranges harmonic frequencies. This study presents an overview dynamic model, sources problems, resonance phenomena developed models MG, including structure, converter-based generation, load algorithms, are briefly summarized provide context dynamics. A comprehensive critical review previous research, phenomenon for MGs, provided. Finally, key future research areas recommended.
